Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

~ Mark Twain

PHOTOGRAPHY. As far back as I can remember, I've always had some kind of camera in my hands and the apparent fascination of photography since a very young age. Today, I continue to have a camera close-by so that I can capture something that brings me joy. Even today, I love all cameras new and old; and over the years I've picked up various antique cameras that I enjoy and am fascinated how each of them work.

WRITTEN WORD. I've always loved to write short stories, poems or different written compositions - including to document my adventures in some form (at the very lease a daily travel journal). When I travel today, I still keep my notebook close so that I can remember great adventures that I've experienced.

TRAVEL. In my opinion, travel is often one of the best (if not the best) forms of education available to us in the world. It is a knowledge obtained that cannot be learned in a classroom or obtained through reading a book. It is a knowledge that is gained through experiences - the sights, tastes, smells, and sounds of a place really open our eyes to the world. It is the profound experience of making mistakes, learning lessons, or suffering through hard unfortunate circumstances. We can learn so much from different places, people, languages, and cultures - so why would we not want to travel?

FOOD. A self declared foodie and all things amazing about so many delicious kinds of foods. I love all different styles of foods, cuisines, and different cultural tasty treats. Eating different kinds of foods is one of my most favourite things to do. I am not a picky eater (at all), and will always be open to trying something new and exciting. What kinds of things should I aim to try next? What is something you love? Something your culture is famous for? I'm excited to try something new and unknown to me.

IMPORTANT PROJECTS. Since 2014, I have been heavily invested in organizing a weekend fundraising event; raising money for kids and families - Kiwanis AleFest, a Craft Festival Weekend. This weekend festivities included a multifaceted craft beer festival - beer tasting, tapas and restaurants, music, art, and a great cause for children. In that time, our small group of dedicated volunteers have contributed thousands of hours of time across 6+ months a year to organize this fundraising weekend - raising over $300,000 over this time. We have also partnered with craft breweries to assemble variety packs, featuring never before brewed craft beer in a limited edition package. All money raised have gone back into the community to support kids and families initiatives. More information can be found - here.

GIVING BACK. One of the many things that bring me joy, is my passion to volunteer and give back to causes that are important to me. This may be through my time invested in projects, or when unable, financially to help do my small part. A cause that is currently important to me is the Ronald McDonald House, please consider donating if you can - click here.

Where It Began...

Rock and Cloverleaf came about with the joy of wanting to combine and document my love for writing and my love for capturing photography. This website is about creating an experience - my two favourite forms being wildlife and nature photography; while also enjoying to dabble in other styles from time-to-time. In combining my joy of photography with my written word, I am able to put two of my joys together to share my worldly experiences, avid dreams, and my love to travel and experience more of the world. I am currently living on Vancouver Island (Canada), but willing and able to travel to wherever and whenever the world may take me.

I love to continually learn new things, and strive to expand my knowledge and education in various different ways - being able to travel and open my eyes to different places and cultures provides an incredible opportunity to do this.

I love to get lost in my environment, explore the wilderness, and document my stories from these adventures. I am a big promoter of trying new things at least twice (because you cannot get the full experience from just doing something once) - and then seeing where this takes me.
